Long, long ago a new Log Stove was thrown down on the hearth and the flue pipe was pointed roughly up the chimney …………. those days have gone.
Customers are often bemused by our insistence that Log Stove are now fitted in accordance with regulations and the manufacturers instructions…. here is a good example why.
Stoves must be fitted at a specified distance from combustible surfaces, which includes plaster board.
This stoves was fitted too close to tiles fitted to plaster board …… Yes it is combustible!!
And please …. don’t pile logs up round the stove either
Some advice that will save you £££££ and keep the environment clean
All our new stoves are now ‘Ecodesign-Ready’ This means they burn more cleanly and efficiently
Did you know that wet logs produce half the heat of dry logs?
Keeping the rope seals, glass and fire bricks in good condition will all increase the efficiency and heat from your stove

Make sure your flue is clear and safe to use and your boiler is running as it should.
Buying a new Log Stove or Fireplace is an important decision.
Not only does it want to look right; you also need to know it is safe, properly installed to building regulations and will give a long life.
Ashburn Stoves are real experienced heating engineers – we do a good job because we know it matters.
- We are not just a high street shop
- We do not use 3rd party installers
- We don’t sell inferior quality stoves
We are not just a stove shop. As a company who have been installing heating systems for over 3o years we have seen a lot of changes.
We have always had a philosophy that doing a good job and getting recommended for it has underpinned the business, but today this has to be backed up with qualifications which are regularly updated and verified.
As a customer you need to know that your stove installation has been installed properly by a competent person and you need reassurance that this is the case.
For more information about ‘competent persons’ read the leaflet below-
At Ashburn we are registered by OFTEC, an established organisation which has supported safety withing the heating industry since 1991. Read more from OFTEC by clicking on the Logo.
To meet insurance and planning standards any stove installed must meet current standards and be fitted by someone qualifying as a ‘Competent Person’
At Ashburn Stoves we only sell equipment we trust
This poor old stove (from a quality manufacturer) will have given years of service, but finally cracked and had to be retired to the garden.
Our modern stoves are largely made of quality steel plate rather then cast iron.
